New News!
Tammy and Brittany spent most of their fall chasing whitetail around the country. Although they had a wonderful time sharing camp with some awesome new friends and saw some monster bucks they experienced more of an off year than an on year in the whitetail woods. Mid Rut Tammy broke her elbow which put a stop to any and all hunts with her Mathews Bow as well as the various gun seasons around the country she had booked. This sudden shock still has her reeling. By the end of December however, she was able to support the weight of a crossbow and managed to take her first animal, a 152 7/8 inch whitetail with the crossbow in Wisconsin. Thank you Ten Point Crossbows!
Brittany\'s luck shifted as well when she harvested a 132 1/8 inch whitetail with her Thompson Center Muzzlelaoder. We are thankful for the game we were able to harvest earlier in the year on film. You can watch for these on The Hunters Journal on The Outdoor Channel in spring. Although 2008 was has been a rough one on a lot of fronts, we look forward to 2009 and all the hunts it has to offer.
We will be after Wild Russian Boar in the snow, black bear in the spring and a myriad of game throughout the fall. As we enter this holiday season we are thankful for everyone of you and the fact that we live in a country where we can freely bear arms and pursue the sport that we love so much.
Thank you troops! Because of you we will always have a hunting season to look forward to. You are appreciated more than you will ever know.
God bless you now and throughout 2009!
Shoot Straight,
Tammy and Brittany Koenig

Tammy's Thoughts
for the Month
In the hunting woods the ability to follow arrow flight through to the animal is critical. It is as big a part of recovering your game as following the bloodtrail. Not knowing where your arrow hit can mean pushing a deer too early and loosing it altogether. In order to make your arrow easier for your eye to track, brighten the colors. Using bright green, orange or even white fletchings definitely helps but you can further benefit by applying a white wrap to your arrow to make it more visible.
In my case it helps the video camera track my shots better as well as allowing me to see where my arrow is headed. A huge advantage for such a small arrow wrap that proves itself invaluable at the most critical time. Find these bright fletchings as well as arrow wraps at your local archery shop. I would recommend Bohning Archery’s 2” Blazers and wraps. They are what we use and in my opinion, offer the widest variety of colors and styles to fit our “Girly” tastes while not sacrificing performance.
For the ultimate lit flight add a Luminok or an Easton Tracer. It will light your arrow path and help you to know immediately if and where you hit your game. The key is to follow the flight of your arrow with your eye. Do all you can to improve this and it can save you heartache on the bloodtrail.
